Dr. Stalin finished his General Surgery training at the Albert Einstein College of medicine in New York and subsequently completed his fellowship Training in Bariatric/Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland. He’s been a practicing Bariatric surgeon for more than a decade now and is presently the Director of Bariatric surgery at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital. He was one of the first Bariatric surgeons in Michigan to also get the American Board of Obesity Medicine Board certification and he also engages in the Medical management of Obesity. He is only 1 of 2 Surgeons in Michigan as of 2022 with a Focused Practice Designation in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery certification from the American Board of Surgery, and only 1 of 102 in the United States. He is a SAGES (Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons) Bariatrics Committee member and he also serves on the SAGES TAVAC (Technology And Value Analysis Committee). He is an ASMBS (American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery) General and Foregut Surgery Committee Member. He is also on the ABOM (American Board of Obesity Medicine) MOC (Maintenance of Certification) Advisory panel. He has been a Reviewer for SAGES for the past few years now, intimately involved in the selection process of abstracts/presentations/videos for the Annual Scientific Sessions. He is the recipient of numerous Outstanding Teaching and Educator awards from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Central Michigan University.
