Dr. Nathan Tomita graduated from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Columbia University School of Public Health. Previously he served as Chief of Surgery and Vice Chief of Staff at Kona Community Hospital, Medical Director at the Kona Ambulatory Surgery Center, and Medical Director at Ali‘i Health Center. In 2021, he entered private practice but continues to devote a large portion of his time to the Big Island community. He now serves as the CEO/President of Sensei Surgery, Inc. in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
Dr. Tomita obtained the highest honor of accreditation by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) by the ACS Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) while serving as the Bariatric Program Director at Kona Community Hospital. He received the same honor when he was in private practice in Michigan.
Dr. Tomita specializes in general surgery, bariatric surgery, advanced wound care, antireflux procedures and venous insufficiency. He takes care of challenging and difficult wounds and is certified by the American Board of Wound Management.
