Manuel E. Castro, MD, PhD, FACS, has more than 20 years of experience as a bariatric surgeon and has performed more than 4,500 surgical weight-loss procedures. He has seen firsthand the difference bariatric surgery can make in people’s lives. He has also been chosen by his peers as one of the “Best Doctors in Dallas” in the Bariatric Surgery category by D Magazine every year since 2011. After earning his medical degree, Dr. Castro completed his residency in general surgery at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan. He later completed a fellowship in surgical critical care at the University of Minnesota Hospitals and Clinics in Minneapolis.
