Kulvinder Bajwa - Bariatric Surgeon

Bariatric Surgeon

Kulvinder Bajwa

I have a community practice as part of the academic faculty at UTHealth Houston. I am the regional lead surgeon and have been the bariatric medical director at the foundation of two programs. I am one of the key teaching faculty members of the MIS and Robotics Fellowship program at UT Health. I recently retired from a over 30 year career in the military with multiple deployments and awards. I have learned to depend on skills, a team, and limited resources to provide the best quality care possible in a tent, in the most advanced robotic surgery operating room and any setting in between. I particularly enjoy bariatric surgery for the transformation that weight loss can have on a person's health and how their medical issues can improve very early in the weight loss journey. I have seen people regain control over their lives and become more conscious of their health for the rest of their lives after an intervention. I have a special interest in severe heart failure and obesity and how surgery, in this population with limitations in activity, can provide benefits for better health, lower their morbidity and mortality, or make them eligible for a heart transplant.
