Dr Davis completed his surgical training at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons/The Stamford Hospital program followed by an Advanced Minimally Invasive Surgical Fellowship at Legacy/Oregon Health Science University in Portland Oregon in 2001.
Following fellowship, Dr Davis joined an academic practice and served as teaching attending at Hackensack University Medical Center before being recruited to join the faculty at Columbia University in New York City. It was during this time he was married and had two children while living in NYC. He was appointed Assistant Professor of Surgery and served on the faculty of Columbia University Department of Surgery. During this time he was also Director of Bariatric Surgery for Columbia’s affiliate medical institutions and established Bariatric Surgical programs at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ and Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, NY.
In 2010, Dr Davis was recruited to establish another Bariatric program at The Stamford Hospital/Columbia University in 2010. Dr Davis moved with the family to Greenwich, Ct and had a third child while living in the suburbs.
Dr Davis’ wife grew up in Dallas, TX and the family decided to relocate to Dallas to be closer to his wife’s family and was recruited by Baylor University Medical Center in 2015. Dr Davis was appointed Clinical Associate Professor in Surgery at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine and currently serves as Chief of Bariatric Surgery for Baylor University Medical Center Dallas and teaching faculty for the General Surgery Residency. Dr Davis established The Center for Metabolic and Weight Loss Surgery of Dallas in 2015 and specializes in metabolic and weight loss surgery, revisional bariatric surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, robotic surgery and emerging endoscopic therapies.
Dr Davis has served as principle or co-investigator in many clinical studies including The National Institutes of Health Longitudinal Assessment of Bariatric Surgery(LABS), FDA randomized clinical trials and many IRB approved clinical studies, with many publications and presentations.
Dr Davis is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He is also a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, The Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract and serves on the ASMBS General and Foregut Committee.
