Janet Klein, MS, RDN, CDN, CDCES is Garnet Health Medical Center’s Bariatric Surgery Program Director. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Dietetics from the State University College at Oneonta and her Masters of Science in Education from Queens College University. She is a Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialist, a Registered Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist, American Heart Association Certified Cardiovascular Counselor, a member of the Integrated Health group of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), and a member of The Obesity Society (TOS). She brings more than 35 years of clinical, educational and leadership experience to Garnet Health, where she spearheaded the Bariatric Surgery program in 2008, received Accreditation for the program in 2011 through the ASMBS (now merged with the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), and continues to lead the program with passion 14 years later. During the latest MBSAQIP survey in May of 2021 Janet achieved the additional designation of Obesity Medicine Management for the program. The Bariatric program at Garnet Health Medical Center has evolved into a “Comprehensive Bariatric Surgery Center with Obesity Medicine Management” under Janet’s leadership.
