Farhad Anoosh

After graduating from medical school with honors, I completed general surgical training at the New York Medical College. During my residency I rotated as chief surgical resident at Weill Medical College, Cornell University. I continued post-graduate studies by completing a minimally invasive bariatric fellowship under the supervision of nationally renown Dr. Anita Courcoulas at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where I accepted the academic appointment of clinical instructor of surgery. I have performed clinical research in advanced minimally invasive bariatric surgery including single incision laparoscopic procedures, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric banding, gastric bypass, stomaphyx, and robotics. I've also trained surgical residents and actively practicing surgeons in the most current laparoscopic surgical techniques. I have published a number of peer review articles which reflect my experience with more than 500 gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric banding and revisional bariatric operations. I am recipient of the Consumer Council of America 2008 list of America’s Top Surgeons. In addition I am listed on Marquis Who’s Who in America and the World 2010-2014 editions. In January of 2011 I joined pioneer bariatric surgeon James A. Sapala at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center to provide the latest in the laparoscopic approach for operative management of patients suffering from clinically severe obesity.in January 2018 I joined Long Island laparoscopic group and accepted the academic position of assistant professor of surgery at Hofstra University.
