Richard DiCicco, MD, FACS, FASMBS, is a board-certified general and bariatric surgeon at the Florida Surgical Weight Loss Centers. He is also the current Director of Bariatric Surgery at the Memorial Hospital of Tampa, an MBSAQIP Bariatric Center of Excellence Hospital. He is the former Director of Bariatric Surgery at Town and Country Hospital, which was a SRC Bariatric Center of Excellence.
Dr. DiCicco received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. He earned his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean, in St. Maarten, N.A. and completed his surgical residency at St. Agnes Healthcare, in Baltimore, Maryland.
Dr. DiCicco has been in private practice since 2004, and has performed hundreds of open and laparoscopic gastric bypass operations, laparoscopic gastric banding procedures, laparscopic sleeve gastrectomies and hiatal hernia repairs. In August 2004, he was proctored to perform the LAP-BAND® procedure and has been a national proctor for the Allergan LAP-BAND®, although no longer placing bands, we still care for and convert bands to either gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, and duodenal switch operations.
Dr. DiCicco started using the daVinci Xi robot in 2015. He has completed over 1500 robotic bariatric operations. He now does all sleeves, bypasses, duodenal switch, revisional bariatric operations and many band removals with the Xi. He hosts a daVinci EpiCenter Case Observation Center as well as provides mentoring, proctoring, and lab teaching for Intuitive Surgical.
Dr. DiCicco maintains memberships at the American College of Surgeons and American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
