Dr. Gail M. Wynn, MD, FACS is a board certified general surgeon with a special focus on weight loss surgery and advanced laparoscopic surgery. She is co-founder of the Christiana Institute of Advanced Surgery (CHRIAS) and is also the Medical Director of Bariatric Surgery at Saint Francis Bariatric Surgery Center. She is also President of the medical staff at St Francis Hospital. She has performed over 2,500 weight loss surgeries since starting the bariatric surgery programs at Christiana Hospital, Wilmington Hospital, and St Francis Hospitals in Delaware. Along with her partners, Dr. Wynn is committed to providing excellent surgical care and a comprehensive surgical weight loss program in a caring, compassionate environment.
In addition to weight loss surgery, Dr. Wynn also performs advanced laparoscopic surgery and robotic surgery of the abdomen including colectomies and splenectomies. She also performs abdominoplasty and abdominal wall reconstruction.
Dr. Wynn did her medical training at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine where she graduated with honors. She completed her surgical training at the Medical Center of Delaware. She has served the MidAtlantic community for over 20 years and takes pride in her very low complication rates and excellent outcomes. Dr. Wynn was voted one of Delaware’s Top Docs for Abdominal surgery from 2007-2011 by Delaware Today magazine. She was also voted Delaware’s Top Bariatric Surgeon.
Dr. Wynn was born in Oakland, California and grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. In her spare time she enjoys time with family, skiing, and traveling. Inspired by her patients, she also competes in 5ks, half marathons, triathlons, and Iron Man triathlons. She also serves as a mentor for high school students that are interested in pursuing a career in the medical field.
